case study
Close protection for a vip family holiday

the brief
Kestrel Guards provided international Close Protection for a UHNW European Family whilst on holiday in Croatia. The family required peace of mind protection for their family members, including young children, and for high value items that they travel with.
Protection was given throughout the two-week holiday, providing protection for airport pick up and drop off, transfers, day trips, accommodation, daily fitness training including running and swimming, on shopping trips and during evenings out.
The team arrived prior to the family’s arrival in order to risk assess the accommodation, local area and airport routes. In this time the team liaised with other parties such as airport security, drivers and the accommodation staff.

What we did
On arriving in Croatia the Close Protection Officers risk assessed the airport and route to the accommodation. Special attention was made to the airport exit with the family having extensive baggage requiring an extra vehicle. The team worked with the accommodation staff, both manager and chefs, during the risk assessment to enable a smooth transit and arrival to the accommodation with a meal prepared for the family.
The CPO team which consisted of both former elite military and police operatives worked discreetly in the background which was requested by the client. This was achieved by tactically placing themselves out of view to the principal whilst still maintaining a close proximity.
The team also planned regular running routes for family members, providing an on-foot CPO and an out of sight vehicle that shadowed the run, this was done to maintain a natural environment for the runs. Meeting points with the vehicle were made so that the principal could have chilled water, which was requested. Radios and ear pieces were used for this to maintain communications in case the principal made changes to the planned route.
how it went
The principal family enjoyed a stress and incident free holiday. The CPO team were praised for their low profile and professional cover.
